Tulsi- Ocimum Sanctum, a blessing

Tulsi also known as Ocimum Sanctum is found very commonly in every Hindu house in India.  It has been a symbol of culture and religious inclination of a Hindu family.  In today’s time, having Tulsi in your house has become a necessity for everyone with various viral infections such as H1N1.

For 5000 years in Indian Ayurveda system, Tulsi also called as Basil has been the most sacred aromatic perennial shrub. But as Swine flu and many other viruses flying in our atmosphere, it has become mandatory for us to take health precautions on daily basis. Taking Tusli and ginger tea every morning keeps our respiratory system strong enough to fight against such dangerous viruses. Irrespective of religion, it has been a health need now. Protecting our nose, throat and further down to respiratory system, this herb helps even in digestion and killing harmful bacteria of the intestine.

Chewing 5-6 leaves every morning or taking Tulsi tea is the best beginning of the day.  Take care…

Paralysis? Come Back to Normal

Paralysis is the complete or partial loss of one or more muscles in the body. Paralysis is a symptom caused as an after effect of damage to Nervous System. Damage to nervous system is caused by metabolic dysfunction or infection.

In Ayurveda, diagnosis is much more important than treatment. Depending on the causes, the treatment is applied. In case of metabolic dysfunction, such as hypertension or diabetes, it is mandatory to bring the blood pressure and sugar level to normal. At the same time, the patient is benifited very much by Ekangveer Rasa, Nirgundi Oil massage on affected areas and Brahmi Ghrit Nasya along with the blood pressure suppressant and sugar balancing therapies. In our opinion, based on levels of pressure and sugar in the blood, the balancing treatment should be given. In most cases, Anulom Vilom pranayaam, Kapalbhanti Pranayaam and Sheetali Pranayaam done early morning on daily basis for at least 2-3 minutes each helps oxygenation and rejuvenation to brain cells and it clears the blood thrombosis and improves nervous system fantastically.

Let us give you an excellent exmple – A 67 years old lady, obese, got a stroke in January this year and she is back to normal in March. It is not a magic. It is dedication towards doing daily Pranayaam, little bit of physio and taking right medication.  At this age, what she wants is confidence of handlign herself on her own, which she got back.

Another example of an infant affected by poliomyelitis at the age of one ye. When mother noticed that her child who was able to walk before a fever spike is not able to walk anymore after the fever is treated comes to us asking for help. It was good that she took Ayurvedic help at an early stage. Within just 30 days of medication, little bit of physio and massage to the affected areas of the child’s body, the child recovered. It was not a magic. It was a discipline and faith on herbal medicines of the mother, which gave a normal life to the child. Indeed, mother is the greatest creation of God! And of course, indeed – Ayurveda!!

The most important – Yoga or Diet?

Remaining healthy and happy is our right and responsibility.  To keep oneself healthy is easier by mainitaing good dietary habits and practicing Yoga and Pranayaam everyday. However, the question is important – what is the most important , Yoga or Diet?

In our opinion, Yoga is much more important, as breathing is much more important than eating. Practising Pranayaam every morning empty stomach gives you enough Oxygen, which in turn balances body equilibrium. Getting oxygenation process better, one can stabilize mind and appetite, agni, both. This means that you will be able to digest and absorb all good things given by nature and will enjoy a happy and healthy life.

So, Pranayaam is the best gift given to humna beings by Ancient Vedas and Rishis. Enjoy breathing naturally by Pranayaam and participate in our blog…

Quote

"Health can be maintained and disease can be prevented. Though technology is advancing, people are still falling sick. Health care costs keep on increasing, and there is no way to reduce that unless you introduce prevention. The best prevention is through Ayurveda, because it is a very comprehensive system, since it is based on natural medicine, which is devoid of toxicity."
- Dr A P J Abdul Kalam, Hon’ble former President of India spoke about Ayurveda.
