Tennis Elbow – successfully treated!

Tennis Elbow

In my practice, I have one more success to add. Got a female patient of 39 years old suffering from right hand Tennis Elbow for about 2-3 years. Bhavana had severe pain, rigidity in the arm and was not able to handle anything from right hand, such as weight lifting, cleaning, cooking etc. She had hard time driving her two-wheeler due to this. Her routine was busy and she really needed help.

When I checked Bhavana, she also had some accompanying symptoms of acidity, constipation, and irregular menstruation. My complete examination took about 30 minutes of personal discussions with her. The treatment started immediately. Pancha Karma with Purva karma was main agenda and within one week, she felt the rigidity has reduced a lot. She felt the ability to move hand in most of the directions. After one more week of Snehan and Swedan, Bhavna felt very relieved. In her words – ” …I have felt this good after years…”

Third week treatment agenda was completely based on dietary supplements, preventive measures and rejuvenation of health. It helped her balance her life so well, she could resist praising Ayurveda with whole heart.

Under my guidance and supervision, regular usage of Rasna, Guggulu, Castor oil and many other medications with appropriate dietary supplements, Bhavna recovered from Tennis Elbow and many minor health complaints within just 3 weeks of medication. And I feel good!!!

Diabetic Abcess – gone forever!

Diabetic Abcess

At the age of 43 years, Shailu, a young, dynamic, active and a busy Civil Engineer was suffering from Diabetic abscess for about 2 years. He took Allopathy treatment in the beginning to balance blood sugar and took antibiotics to treat the abscess, when first time he got two. He recovered after 3 weeks of medication and just after three days, he got a new one…

Now he was in a lot of pain and really frustrated with antibiotics, as those medications used to disturb his digestion severely. Now he approached an Ayurvedic Physician. However, the Physician could not provide medications, which can help him recover fast. This affected his profession and due to stress, his blood sugar level got affected again. It went on like this for almost two summers and one winter.

He approached me for a second opinion on Ayurvedic medications that he was taking. I advised him to continue the same, but add one ghee early morning empty stomach and some application such as neem and turmeric on the wound / abscess. Indeed, some changes to his diet, daily routine and Pranayam was added by me.

This time, it took only 18 days instead of 3 months to recover. Now after complete medication of 30 days, he is not getting any recurrence of abscess. He is able to pay attention to his profession and his blood sugar level is also balanced with the continuing Diabetic herbal preparations. In his wife’s words – “….He is as active and busy, as he was before and his moods are fine too…”

European Union and India in talks on Ayurveda products

European Union And India In Talks On Ayurveda Products

A European Union policy change is expected to limit the availability of Ayurvedic health solutions for its citizens.

The European Union’s Traditional Herbal Medicinal Products Directive (THMPD), asks that companies making herbal products will be required to provide clinical data to demonstrate its safety through use of those products – within the EU for a minimum of 15 years ; and 30 years if outside the EU.

The decision will result in a ban on the sale of over-the-counter ayurvedic and herbal drugs from May the 1st, 2011. The directive in question came into effect in 2004, but was given a transition period till April 30, 2011. An Indian delegation from the department of Ayush held meetings with the EU in January to relax its decision by another 10 years.

The directive does exempt herbal medicines that are made up for a patient following a consultation with a herbalist.

Earlier in 2007, a EU commission team conducted a tour of R&D and manufacturing facilities of Ayurveda in various cities of Inida. The report submitted by this commission acknowledged that the Ayurveda infrastructure in India was well regulated in terms of qualified practitioners, hospitals, dispensaries and manufacturing facilities.

Remains to be seen now if the EU will extend the implementation date further, or will this directive deprive Europeans of taking advantage of Ayurvedic medicines. The demographic challenge in Europe (and in US) requires that the health care sector focus more and more on prevention of disease. Ayurveda and its practices truly focus on “health care” and not “sick care”.

We certainly hope that good sense will prevail !

Weight loss trick

In my latest experience with weight loss treatments, I have experienced that along with exercise, Yoga, Pranayaam and some herbal supplements, there is one more simple yet very effective trick.

The trick is to take real hot water with half lemon squeezed in it after each meal helps wash out all lipids away from our stomach.   Compare this to a pot with oil in it and how you wash it with hot water and lemon; the oil washes away easily. Similarly, washing away unwanted oil and fat from our food is essential in weight loss treatment at every stage. So try it and see how it works !!!

93% of Ayurveda’s Wild Medicinal Plants Threatened With Extinction

As Ayurveda gains more followers and demand for Ayurvedic medicines continues to grow exponentially, along comes the threat of extinction.

The Economic Times reports that the Botanical Survey of India has done an assessment of the state of the nation’s wild medicinal plants used in Ayurvedic medicine. As you can tell by the headline, the prognosis for those species which are harvested from the wild–about 95% of herbs used are not cultivated–is decidedly not good.

The original study highlights five critically endangered species:

* Ulteria salicfolia, extracts from the rhizome of which can protect against ulcers
* Hydnocarpus pentandra, or the Jangli Almond, whose seed oil is used to treat ailments diverse as leprosy, arthritis, and diabetes
* Gymnocladus assamicus, a tree found in northeast India
* Begonia tessaricarpa, known as Rebe, which was thought to be extinct for 115 years before being rediscovered, and is used to treat stomach aches and dehydration
* Agapetes smithiana

Ayurveda Diet

I can write a whole book on proper diet as per Ayurveda. As I have written earlier, dietary habits can be general. In my posts earlier, I have talked about some broad guidelines on proper diet. But a balanced diet differs from male to female, pediatric age to geriatric age and for each Prakriti and each season. It also differs in persons suffering from metabolic disorders and persons living in particular environmental conditions.

Diatary habits, sleeping habits and morning and evening routines can be defined very well for general welfare. However, as per modern science, a balanced diet is also a standard formula. It must include vitamins, carbohydrates, protein and minerals. Be it any season and any constitution, fruits, vegetables and carbs are necessary in diet. Quantity and quality can differ however. Protein in two meals is also necessary. Good source of Vitamin E in the form of dry fruits is must in breakfast to keep neurological disorders away.

So overall, we must absorb all Vitamins, minerals, protein and carbs in 3-6 types of meals depending on your routines, age, gender, constitution and metabolism.

Are you also loosing your hairline every week? Then Ayurveda is the only choice of treatment that you have. Only Rasaushadhi with medicated oil can bring your hairline back, where it was.

Quote

"Health can be maintained and disease can be prevented. Though technology is advancing, people are still falling sick. Health care costs keep on increasing, and there is no way to reduce that unless you introduce prevention. The best prevention is through Ayurveda, because it is a very comprehensive system, since it is based on natural medicine, which is devoid of toxicity."
- Dr A P J Abdul Kalam, Hon’ble former President of India spoke about Ayurveda.
