<ol>
<li>Take lighter lunch and nap for at least 10-15 min after that.</li>
<li>Make sure to take a long leisure walk after early dinner in the evening.</li>
<li>Stay awake for at least 2 hours after dinner and then sleep.</li>
<li>Mediate or read at bed time.</li>
<li>If you have a family, tell some stories from books or about yourself to the kids.</li>
<li>A glass of milk before bed, is a healthy habit.</li>
</ol>
<p>There are some basic rules in Ayurveda that keep a person in perfect health throughout life. We wish you the same, dear readers!</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>I  have had many patients asking me, if my parents had Diabetes do I have a higher likelihood of getting diabetes.   Unfortunately, yes, diabetes is hereditary. Where things shouldn&#8217;t be is &#8211; the parents had the disorder at the age of 60-65 years and when is the younger generation getting  it? At the age of 40 years? Why?</p>
<p>Most of metabolic disorders have genetic background. But there is a big role of your own physiology to play a role in your metabolism. Every individual has been advised by the physicians often to</p>
<ol>
<li>eat light,</li>
<li>exercise,</li>
<li>eat good food and not junk food,</li>
<li>eat veggies, eat fruits, eat fibres, etc.</li>
</ol>
<p>How many actually follow these disciplines without breaking them.</p>
<p>If one makes a mistake in dietary habits once in a while, it can be still corrected.  But if we these mistakes are made often and the rules get followed just once in a while, then we are inviting metabolic disorders in our body way before their scheduled time.  In the aviation world, this would be classified as before time arrival.   A positive happening for passengers,  but not in the context of getting disorders.</p>
<p>So the simple tricks to remain healthy are eat good food, exercise, maintain a positive attitude, consume lots of water and healthy drinks, and wash out your digestive systems once  in every 15 days.   No matter what age you are, you must follow these things to remain happy and healthy always.</p>

<p>- Barley<br />
- Whole grains<br />
- Black chick peas roasted and light salted<br />
- Madhupatra in sweets, tea, coffee or any cold drinks that one likes to take. It tastes 5 times sweeter than regular sugar and still helps reduce blood glucose level.<br />
- Sprouts of Moong, Soya and black or green Chick peas.<br />
- Green salads, including cucumber, spinach, lettuce, tomatoes, beetroot, red cabbage and tofu.<br />
- Soyabeans made in different forms with olive oil.<br />
- High amount of Turmeric root. </p>
<p>Isn&#8217;t it nice to know that so many veggies are there in variety of forms and norms to eat for Diabetic persons? Yes it is. Eating more veggies will help you improve your metabolism and reduce risk of any health disorders at any age.  </p>
<p>Balanced diet, regular Pranayam and exercise can prevent metabolic disorders and even infectious or allergic disorders. </p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>I get this question very often from my patients, quote  &#8211; &#8220;This product suits my husband very well, but I am allergic to it&#8230;&#8221; &#8221; Particular medicine works on her so well and it is ineffective for me&#8230;, why?&#8221; unquote.</p>
<p>Yes, we all have same human body, but cell constitution is different in all of us. We all are made of Panch Mahabhoot, Sapta dhatu and Tridosh.  We all carry different taste, different thinking, liking and much more. As per Ayurveda, human body metabolism works on Tridosha. In every season, every 24 hours, we feel higher levels of Vata, Pitta and Kapha dosha one by one. All doshas exist in our metabolism and helps at decided times of the day and season fo the year to run our body machine effectively. However, we all have typical constitution, which is called Prakriti. According to Prakriti, a person carries a particular type of personality. </p>
<p>Vata Prakriti Person is usually active, fast, instant decision maker, small eater, thin hair and grey nailed person with thin body structure. Pitta Prakriti Person is usually short tempered, red eyed, thin hair and yellowish white skin toned, fast, good listener, good absorption capacity holder and thinker. Kapha Prakriti person is usually a slow eater, slow acting person, thorough thinker, good decision maker and good memory holder person. There are mixed personalities too such as Vatapitta, Kaphapitta, Pittakapha, Vatakapha, Pittakapha, Pittavata and some are tridoshaj. Even in mixed personality percentage of each dual doshas differ. So we all carry different personalities and body metabolism. </p>
<p>According to our body consitution, some food products are very suitable and some are less. Similarly some herbs are effective in cold for most of the people and some are not at all. So Ayurvedic medicines are to be given only after complete Prakriti examination and a thorough diagnosis. 			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>I can write a whole book on proper diet as per Ayurveda. As I have written earlier, dietary habits can be general. In my posts earlier, I have talked about some broad guidelines on proper diet. But a balanced diet differs from male to female, pediatric age to geriatric age and for each Prakriti and each season. It also differs in persons suffering from metabolic disorders and persons living in particular environmental conditions. </p>
<p>Diatary habits, sleeping habits and morning and evening routines can be defined very well for general welfare. However, as per modern science, a balanced diet is also a standard formula. It must include vitamins, carbohydrates, protein and minerals. Be it any season and any constitution, fruits, vegetables and carbs are necessary in diet. Quantity and quality can differ however. Protein in two meals is also necessary. Good source of Vitamin E in the form of dry fruits is must in breakfast to keep neurological disorders away. </p>
<p>So overall, we must absorb all Vitamins, minerals, protein and carbs in 3-6 types of meals depending on your routines, age, gender, constitution and metabolism. </p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>In Ayurveda, the treatment for Diabetes is extremely effective and in 85 % of the cases, it can be completely treated. There are two major medications that are used in the treatment of Diabetes &#8211; Cow urine and herbs.</p>
<p>Karela, Neem, Jamun, Amla, Haldi and many other ingredients are giving fabulous results. However, cow urine actually makes the pancreas active and gets natural insulin secretion so effective that the patient feels better much faster.</p>
<p>What does these herbs and cowurnie actually do?</p>
<p>The actual effect of these herbs are as below:</p>
<p>- Balancing the metabolism</p>
<p>- Reducing glucose level from urine and blood</p>
<p>- Controlling frequency of urination and strengthening bladder muscles.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>On this day,14th November,  when the founder of  &#8220;Insulin&#8221;, Frederick Banting, was born, let us educate ourselves about Diabetes a bit more.  Today, approximately 220 million people are suffering from Diabetes around the world. Observing the type of lifestyle that we have nowadays, this number is estimated to be double by 2030.</p>
<p>Diabetes is of two types. Type 1 is Diabetes Insipidus and Type 2 is Diabetes Mellitus. The Type 2 is most common amongst us.</p>
<p>Simple causes for us to consider:</p>
<p>- Heriditory &#8211; if anyone in family, such as parents, grandparents, brother or sister has it, you are more likely to have it.</p>
<p>- Diet &#8211; High calorie diet on regular basis with high frequency in a day causes obesity and in turn Diabetes</p>
<p>- Luxurious lifestyle &#8211; No physical exercise on daily basis causes obesity and diabetes</p>
<p>- Intake of high sugar drinks under stress &#8211; Taking more cups of coffee, cappuchino, espresso or tea or soft drinks and carbonated drinks in a day with high sugar in it causes diabetes. This is found in office class working people.</p>
<p>- Tobacco use under stress also causes diabetes.</p>
<p>Simple signs to identify Diabetes:</p>
<p>- Frequent urination with sweet smell</p>
<p>- Increased thirst and hunger</p>
<p>- Sudden weight loss</p>
<p>- Giddiness or heavy head feeling</p>
<p>- Frequent tingling numbness in hands and feet</p>
<p>Simple treatment methods:</p>
<p>- Diet control</p>
<p>- Physical exercise with Yoga and Pranayaam</p>
<p>- Appropriate medications of Ayurveda only.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>This day is marked as International Diabetes Day by the International Diabetes Federaiton and WHO. The theme for this day is &#8220;Diabetes Education and Prevention&#8221;. Diabetes is a disease in which our body do not produce enough &#8220;insulin&#8221; which can digest and absorb necessary sugar in the body.  Hence the sugar is excreted in mixed in the blood and urine as an external factor causing many painful symptoms indifferent parts of the body.</p>
<p>Diabetes is not a disease of the old. In the last decade, the incidence among people in the age around 30&#8242;s has jumped up by 70 %.  Anyone can suffer from Diabetes. There are few factors that increase risk for diabetes, such as family history, lack of physical exercise in daily routine, excessive sugar and salt intake and high emotional and mental stress levels.</p>
<p>Warning signs of Diabetes are frequent urination, increased thirst and hunger, weight loss, tingling numbness in hands and feet and in some cases giddiness and heaviness in head.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Dental problems such as pyorrhea, plaque, cavities, gum swelling, stomatitis such as oral inflamations are serious conditions and must be treated immediately, as it can lead the infection further down in digestive or respiratory tracts.</p>
<p>We all know that brushing teeth in the morning, before going to bed and after every meal is a real good habit. In Ayurveda, maintaining good habits are the first things a man should practice to remain healthy. In Ayurveda, brushing teeth with Babool and / or Neem is the best practice. Brushing teeth and gums gently and thoroughly for at least 3 -5 minutes is must in the morning and before going to bed. Brushing teeth external side (towards cheeks), within, and then internal side (towards tongue) is equally important for complete cleaning. Flossing is another way to clean the space between teeth.</p>
<p>Denture structuring in kids is formed based on their habits of way of brushing and the frequency. Some kids develop teeth in inappropriate way, because of wrong brushing habits and eating too many sweets.</p>
