Alternate

73% of Canadians use Alternative Medicine

In countries with universal health care, alternative medicine has greater challenges in getting acceptability.  So when a news post in The Vancouver Sun mentioned that 73% of Canadians in their lifetime use alternative medicine, it didn’t miss our attention.

Ayurveda Group firmly believes that the compound challenges of ageing populations and ever increasing costs of health care will need a multi pronged solution.  This solution amongst other things will need to have -

  1. Prevention as a key component
  2. A partial (if not complete) back to nature, away from chemicals solution
  3. Recognition of Ayurveda’s successes in preventing ill health and treating diseases

As President Obama grapples with the out-of-control health care challenges of America, recognition and acceptance of “alternative” medicine is something that has been largely missing from all debates.

The word alternative clearly suggests that when the current solution is not working, it is imperative that the alternate path be explored.

Quote

"Health can be maintained and disease can be prevented. Though technology is advancing, people are still falling sick. Health care costs keep on increasing, and there is no way to reduce that unless you introduce prevention. The best prevention is through Ayurveda, because it is a very comprehensive system, since it is based on natural medicine, which is devoid of toxicity."
- Dr A P J Abdul Kalam, Hon’ble former President of India spoke about Ayurveda.
