More than 1.6 million Americans will travel abroad for medical treatment in 2012, up from 750,000 in 2007. says Deloitte Center for Health Solutions.

Severe obesity in children – 2.7 million effected (U.S. data)

An online study published by Academic Pediatrics estimates that about 2.7 million children in the United States are severely obese.

The researchers also found that a third of severely obese children had metabolic syndrome, a group of risk factors for diabetes, stroke and heart attack. The risk factors include high blood pressure, cholesterol and insulin levels.
